Author Website Design
Of everything you build as an author, your own website is the only piece of your platform that’s truly yours.
- Book pages with buy links to every retailer
- Email sign-up you own outright
- Simple enough to update yourself
Social media reach can shrink overnight with an algorithm change. But a website with your name on it, hosting your books and your story, is stable ground, entirely under your control. It’s also often the first place a journalist, podcast host, or interested reader looks when they want to learn more about you.
What’s included
- A clean, professional design built around your books and your story, not a generic template.
- Core pages that actually get used: homepage, individual book pages with buy links, an about page, and a contact form.
- Email list integration, so every visitor has an easy way to sign up and stay in touch.
- Mobile-friendly, fast-loading design.
- Straightforward content management, so you can update your own site without calling us for every small edit.
Our process
- A discovery conversation about your books and goals for the site.
- A site structure and design concept, shown to you before we build anything in full.
- Full build-out, including all core pages and email sign-up integration.
- Your review and revisions, until the site feels like an accurate representation of you.
- Launch and a short walkthrough on making simple updates yourself.
What is included
A site built around your books
A page per book with buy links to every retailer you sell through, so a reader who has just finished one can find the next.
An email list you own
Sign-up wired to a mailing platform in your own account. Readers you can reach directly are the one audience no platform can take away.
Editable by you
Set up so you can add a book, change a date or post an update yourself, without a developer and without a monthly retainer.
Fast, readable and findable
Works properly on a phone, readable at a comfortable type size, and structured so search engines can tell what each page is about.
How this one runs
- What the site is for. Selling books, collecting emails, speaking enquiries, or simply existing when someone searches your name. The answer changes the whole design.
- Structure and copy. The pages you need and what each one says. Usually fewer pages than expected, working harder.
- Design and build. Built to match your covers so a reader arriving from a retailer recognises they are in the right place.
- Launch and handover. Domain, hosting and email sign-up connected, then a walkthrough of how to update it, with written notes to come back to.
About author website design
Do I really need a website if I’m on Amazon?
A retailer page sells one book to someone already looking for it. A website is where a reader who liked that book finds out what else you have written and how to hear about the next one, and it is the only one of the two you control. Accounts get suspended and algorithms change; a domain you own does not.
Who owns the domain and hosting?
You do, in your own accounts, paid by you. We set them up with you rather than in our name, so there is no arrangement to unpick if you ever want someone else to take over.
Can I update it myself?
Yes. That is a design requirement, not an afterthought. Adding a book, changing an event date or posting an update are all meant to be things you can do in a few minutes, and you get a walkthrough plus written notes at handover.
What does it cost to keep running?
Domain renewal and hosting, which together are usually modest annual costs paid directly to those providers, plus your mailing platform once your list outgrows its free tier. There is no retainer to us, and no charge for continuing to exist.
